When a client's brand requires professional, edgy, or classic-style graphics a well-trained designer can oblige. I've produced dozens of sites for a range of businesses and client types, and each had their own needs and aesthetic. I prefer to use color, texture, allignment, and font choices to reinforce the client's brand when designing a website that can act as a representation of their brand personality, and help increase profits by communicating value to the target demographic

| EditorMuse is an Austin-based copy editing service that offers its clients an opportunity to improve their manuscripts or generate compelling web content. As a startup company, EditorMuse needed consistant branding based on a new logo and website design. The site itself needed to accommodate dynamic content and blog entries and to retain a framework that would work for later expansion. I designed the logo based on a flowing "wing," a nod to the company's goal to serve as an author's "muse," inspiring authors to professional excellence.

| This particular site neede a fresh web 2.0 feel to reflect the technological nature of the product it was meant to represent. For this reason I began the design to visually represent a "pop up window," evocative of windows and mac operating systems and other technological tools. The two column text layout presented a challenge in that the "call to action" was often left at the bottom of the right hand column, so I designed a subtle background shape that would lead the viewer's eye from the menu and text to the final call to action at the bottom of the page.

| The unique challenge with this client was the lack of visual/textual content and the need for a strong brand presence that communicated the client's refined product. I chose browns and golds to communicate the reliability and richness of the product, and modern san serif fonts to give the design an sense of cleanliness. I ornamented the background with a "blueprint" graphic, and then used my two column system to inform and structure the text in a way that small amounts of information could be displayed beautifully. For the photo gallery, I programmed the javascript and CSS to display opened images over the right column to keep their functions as part of the site's aesthetic.

| This client already had strong branding in their logo, which utilized specific color scheme and a continuous line drawing behind the text. My initial concept was to base the design off this continuous line drawing, making the site structure an extension of that line, and unifying the logo with the site content. This strong concept informed my grid placements, color pallette, and site structure so strongly that the design flowed quickly from there.
